Wa Laqad `Alimtumu Al-Ladhīna A`tadaw Minkum Fī As-Sabti Faqulnā Lahum Kūnū Qiradatan Khāsi’īna

You have come to know who it was among you that transgressed the Sabbath, We said to them: “Be despicable apes!”

5:60
Qul Hal ‘Unabbi’ukum Bisharrin Min Dhālika Mathūbatan `Inda Allāhi Man La`anahu Allāhu Wa GhaĐiba `Alayhi Wa Ja`ala Minhumu Al-Qiradata Wa Al-Khanāzīra Wa `Abada Aţ-Ţāghūta ‘Ūlā’ika Sharrun Makānāan Wa ‘AĐallu `An Sawā’i As-Sabīli

Say: “Shall I inform you of worse than this as a punishment from God? Those whom God cursed and became angry at them, and He made from them apes and pigs and servants of evil. Those have a worse place and are more astray from the right path.”

7:166
Falammā `Ataw `An Mā Nuhū `Anhu Qulnā Lahum Kūnū Qiradatan Khāsi’īna

Wa Lammā Raja`a Mūsá ‘Ilá Qawmihi GhaĐbāna ‘Asifāan Qāla Bi’samā Khalaftumūnī Min Ba`dī ‘A`ajiltum ‘Amra Rabbikum Wa ‘Alqá Al-‘Alwāĥa Wa ‘Akhadha Bira’si ‘Akhīhi Yajurruhu ‘Ilayhi Qāla Abna ‘Umma ‘Inna Al-Qawma AstaĐ`afūnī Wa Kādū Yaqtulūnanī Falā Tushmit Biya Al-‘A`dā’a Wa Lā Taj`alnī Ma`a Al-Qawmi Až-žālimīna

And when Moses returned to his people, angry and grieved, he said: “Miserable is what you have done after I was gone; do you wish to hasten the action of your Lord?” And he cast down the tablets, and took his brother by his head dragging him towards him. He said: “Son of my mother, the people overpowered me and nearly killed me, so do not make the enemies rejoice over me, and do not make me with the wicked people.”

Whoever seeks the life of haste, We will make for him what he wishes, then We will make Hell for him a place which he will reach disgraced and rejected.

2:51

Wa ‘Idh Wā`adnā Mūsá ‘Arba`īna Laylatan Thumma Attakhadhtumu Al-`Ijla Min Ba`dihi Wa ‘Antum žālimūna

And We appointed a meeting time for Moses of forty nights, but then you took the calf after him while you were wicked.

2:54

Wa ‘Idh Qāla Mūsá Liqawmihi Yā Qawmi ‘Innakum žalamtum ‘Anfusakum Biāttikhādhikumu Al-`Ijla Fatūbū ‘Ilá Bāri’ikum Fāqtulū ‘Anfusakum Dhālikum Khayrun Lakum `Inda Bāri’ikum Fatāba `Alaykum ‘Innahu Huwa At-Tawwābu Ar-Raĥīmu

And Moses said to his people: “O my people, you have wronged your souls by taking the calf, so repent to your Maker, and kill yourselves. That is better for you with your Maker, so He would forgive you. He is the Forgiving, the Merciful.”

2:92

Wa Laqad Jā’akum Mūsá Bil-Bayyināti Thumma Attakhadhtumu Al-`Ijla Min Ba`dihi Wa ‘Antum žālimūna

And Moses had come to you with clear proofs, then you took the calf after him; you were wicked!

2:93

Wa ‘Idh ‘Akhadhnā Mīthāqakum Wa Rafa`nā Fawqakumu Aţ-Ţūra Khudhū Mā ‘Ātaynākum Biqūwatin Wa Asma`ū Qālū Sami`nā Wa `Aşaynā Wa ‘Ushribū Fī Qulūbihimu Al-`Ijla Bikufrihim Qul Bi’samā Ya’murukum Bihi ‘Īmānukum ‘In Kuntum Mu’uminīna

And We took your covenant, and raised the mount above you: “Take what We have given you with strength, and listen.” They said: “We hear and disobey!” And they had consumed the calf inside their hearts by their disbelief. Say: “Miserable indeed is what your belief orders of you if you are believers!”

4:153

Yas’aluka ‘Ahlu Al-Kitābi ‘An Tunazzila `Alayhim Kitābāan Mina As-Samā’i Faqad Sa’alū Mūsá ‘Akbara Min Dhālika Faqālū ‘Arinā Allāha Jahratan Fa’akhadhat/humu Aş-Şā`iqatu Bižulmihim Thumma Attakhadhū Al-`Ijla Min Ba`di Mā Jā’at/humu Al-Bayyinātu Fa`afawnā `An Dhālika Wa ‘Ātaynā Mūsá Sulţānāan Mubīnāan

The people of the Book ask you to bring down to them a book from the heaven. They had asked Moses for even more than that, for they said: “Show us God openly!” So the lightning strike took them for their wickedness. Then they took the calf after the clarity had come to them, and We pardoned them for this; We gave Moses a clear authority.

7:148

Wa Attakhadha Qawmu Mūsá Min Ba`dihi Min Ĥulīyihim `Ijlāan Jasadāan Lahu Khuwārun ‘Alam Yaraw ‘Annahu Lā Yukallimuhum Wa Lā Yahdīhim Sabīlāan Attakhadhūhu Wa Kānū žālimīna

And the people of Moses, in his absence, made from their ornaments a sculpture of a calf that emitted a cry. Did they not see that it could not speak to them, nor guide them to any way? They took it and they were wicked.

7:152

‘Inna Al-Ladhīna Attakhadhū Al-`Ijla Sayanāluhum GhaĐabun Min Rabbihim Wa Dhillatun Fī Al-Ĥayāati Ad-Dunyā Wa Kadhalika Najzī Al-Muftarīna

Those who took the calf will be dealt with a wrath from their Lord and a humiliation in this worldly life. It is such that We punish the fabricators.

11:69

Wa Laqad Jā’at Rusulunā ‘Ibrāhīma Bil-Bushrá Qālū Salāmāan Qāla Salāmun Famā Labitha ‘An Jā’a Bi`ijlin Ĥanīdhin

And Our messengers came to Abraham with good news, they said: “Peace” He said: “Peace,” and he made no delay in bringing a roasted calf.

20:88

Fa’akhraja Lahum `Ijlāan Jasadāan Lahu Khuwārun Faqālū Hādhā ‘Ilahukum Wa ‘Ilahu Mūsá Fanasiya

He then produced for them a sculpture of a calf that emitted a cry. So they said: “This is your god and the god of Moses, but he had forgotten!”

51:26

Farāgha ‘Ilá ‘Ahlihi Fajā’a Bi`ijlin Samīnin

Then he went to his family and brought a fat calf.

And your Lord is forgiving, with mercy. If He were to evaluate the people for what they had already earned, He would hasten for them the retribution. No, they have an appointment, beyond which they will find no escape.

48:20

Wa Yasta`jilūnaka Bis-Sayyi’ati Qabla Al-Ĥasanati Wa Qad Khalat Min Qablihimu Al-Mathulātu Wa ‘Inna Rabbaka Ladhū Maghfiratin Lilnnāsi `Alá žulmihim Wa ‘Inna Rabbaka Lashadīdu Al-`Iqābi

And they hasten towards you with evil before good, and the examples of those before them have already been given. And your Lord is with forgiveness towards the people for their transgression, and your Lord is severe in retribution.

16:1

‘Atá ‘Amru Allāhi Falā Tasta`jilūhu Subĥānahu Wa Ta`ālá `Ammā Yushrikūna

The command of God will come, so do not hasten it. Be He glorified and exalted above the partners they set up.

21:37

Khuliqa Al-‘Insānu Min `Ajalin Sa’urīkum ‘Āyātī Falā Tasta`jilūni

Man has been created from haste. I will show you My signs, so do not be hasty.

22:47

Wa Yasta`jilūnaka Bil-`Adhābi Wa Lan Yukhlifa Allāhu Wa`dahu Wa ‘Inna Yawmāan `Inda Rabbika Ka’alfi Sanatin Mimmā Ta`uddūna

And they seek you to hasten the retribution; and God will not break His promise. And a day with your Lord is like one thousand of the years which you count.

26:204

‘Afabi`adhābinā Yasta`jilūna

Was it not their wish that Our punishment be hastened?

27:46

Qāla Yā Qawmi Lima Tasta`jilūna Bis-Sayyi’ati Qabla Al-Ĥasanati Lawlā Tastaghfirūna Allāha La`allakum Turĥamūna

He said: “My people, why do you hasten with evil ahead of good? If you would only seek the forgiveness of God, perhaps you will receive mercy.”

27:72

Qul `Asá ‘An Yakūna Radifa Lakum Ba`Đu Al-Ladhī Tasta`jilūna

Say: “Perhaps He is now sending your way some of that which you hasten.”

29:53

Wa Yasta`jilūnaka Bil-`Adhābi Wa Lawlā ‘Ajalun Musammáan Lajā’ahumu Al-`Adhābu Wa Laya’tiyannahum Baghtatan Wa Hum Lā Yash`urūna

And they hasten you for the retribution! If it were not for an appointed term, the retribution would have come to them. It will come to them suddenly, when they do not expect.

29:54

Yasta`jilūnaka Bil-`Adhābi Wa ‘Inna Jahannama Lamuĥīţatun Bil-Kāfirīna

They hasten you for the retribution; while Hell surrounds the rejecters.

37:16

‘A’idhā Mitnā Wa Kunnā Turābāan Wa `Ižāmāan ‘A’innā Lamab`ūthūna

Can it be that after we die and become dust and bones, that we are resurrected?

42:18

Yasta`jilu Bihā Al-Ladhīna Lā Yu’uminūna Bihā Wa Al-Ladhīna ‘Āmanū Mushfiqūna Minhā Wa Ya`lamūna ‘Annahā Al-Ĥaqqu ‘Alā ‘Inna Al-Ladhīna Yumārūna Fī As-Sā`ati Lafī Đalālin Ba`īdin

Those who do not believe in it seek to hasten it, while those who believe are concerned about it, and they know that it is the truth. Certainly, those who dispute the Hour have gone far astray.

46:35

Therefore, be patient like the messengers of strong-will did before you and do not be in haste regarding them. On the Day they will see what they have been promised, it will be as if they had not remained except for one hour of a single day. A proclamation: Are any destroyed except for the wicked people?

51:14

Dhūqū Fitnatakum Hādhā Al-Ladhī Kuntum Bihi Tasta`jilūna

Taste this ordeal of yours; this is what you asked to be hastened.

51:59

Fa’inna Lilladhīna žalamū Dhanūbāan Mithla Dhanūbi ‘Aşĥābihim Falā Yasta`jilūni

The transgressors will have the same fate as their previous friends; so let them not be hasty.

n.vb.

10:11

Wa Law Yu`ajjilu Allāhu Lilnnāsi Ash-Sharra Asti`jālahum Bil-Khayri LaquĐiya ‘Ilayhim ‘Ajaluhum Fanadharu Al-Ladhīna Lā Yarjūna Liqā’anā Fī Ţughyānihim Ya`mahūna

And if God hastened for the people the evil as He hastens for them the good, then they would have been ruined. We thus leave those who do not wish to meet Us wandering in their transgression.

Those who have denied Our revelations, and became arrogant towards them, the gates of the heavens will not open for them, nor will they enter the Paradise until the camel passes through the eye of a needle. It is such that We recompense the criminals.

And if We had wished, We could have raised him with it, but he stuck to the earth and he followed his desire. His example is like the dog, if you scold him he pants, and if you leave him he pants; such is the example of the people who deny Our revelations. So tell the stories, perhaps they will think.

Or the one who passed through a town which had become ruins. He said: “How can God possibly revive this after it had died?” So God put him to death for one hundred years, then He resurrected him. He said: “How long have you stayed here?” He said: “I have stayed here a day or part of a day.” He said: “No, you have stayed here for one hundred years! Look at your food and drink, they have not changed, but look at your donkey! And We will make you a sign for the people; and look at the bones how We expand them, then We cover them with flesh.” So when it was clear to him what happened, he said: “I now know that God is capable of all things!”

Zuyyina Lilnnāsi Ĥubbu Ash-Shahawāti Mina An-Nisā’ Wa Al-Banīna Wa Al-Qanāţīri Al-Muqanţarati Mina Adh-Dhahabi Wa Al-FiĐĐati Wa Al-Khayli Al-Musawwamati Wa Al-‘An`āmi Wa Al-Ĥarthi Dhālika Matā`u Al-Ĥayāati Ad-Dunyā Wa Allāhu `Indahu Ĥusnu Al-Ma’ābi

It has been adorned for people to love the desire of women, and sons, and ornaments made from gold and silver, and trained horses, and livestock, and fields. These are the enjoyment of the world, and with God is the best abode.

8:60

Wa ‘A`iddū Lahum Mā Astaţa`tum Min Qūwatin Wa Min Ribāţi Al-Khayli Turhibūna Bihi `Adūwa Allāhi Wa `Adūwakum Wa ‘Ākharīna Min Dūnihim Lā Ta`lamūnahumu Allāhu Ya`lamuhum Wa Mā Tunfiqū Min Shay’in Fī Sabīli Allāhi Yuwaffa ‘Ilaykum Wa ‘Antum Lā Tužlamūna

And prepare for them all that you can of might, and from the steeds of war, that you may instill terror with it towards the enemy of God and your enemy, and others besides them whom you do not know but God knows them. And whatever you spend in the cause of God will be returned to you, and you will not be wronged.

16:8

Wa Al-Khayla Wa Al-Bighāla Wa Al-Ĥamīra Litarkabūhā Wa Zīnatan Wa Yakhluqu Mā Lā Ta`lamūna

And the horses and the mules and the donkeys, that you may ride them and as an adornment; and He creates what you do not know.

17:64

Wa Astafziz Mani Astaţa`ta Minhum Bişawtika Wa ‘Ajlib `Alayhim Bikhaylika Wa Rajilika Wa Shārik/hum Fī Al-‘Amwli Wa Al-‘Awlādi Wa `Id/hum Wa Mā Ya`iduhumu Ash-Shayţānu ‘Illā Ghurūrāan

“And entice whoever you can of them with your voice, and mobilize all your forces and men against them, and you may share with them in their money and children, and promise them.” But the devil promises nothing but deceit.

59:6

Wa Mā ‘Afā’a Allāhu `Alá Rasūlihi Minhum Famā ‘Awjaftum `Alayhi Min Khaylin Wa Lā Rikābin Wa Lakinna Allāha Yusalliţu Rusulahu `Alá Man Yashā’u Wa Allāhu `Alá Kulli Shay’in Qadīrun

And what God provided to His messenger, without you having to battle for it on horses or on foot, was because God sends His emissaries against whoever He wills. And God is capable of all things.

4:36

Wa A`budū Allāha Wa Lā Tushrikū Bihi Shay’āan Wa Bil-Wālidayni ‘Iĥsānāan Wa Bidhī Al-Qurbá Wa Al-Yatāmá Wa Al-Masākīni Wa Al-Jāri Dhī Al-Qurbá Wa Al-Jāri Al-Junubi Wa Aş-Şāĥibi Bil-Janbi Wa Abni As-Sabīli Wa Mā Malakat ‘Aymānukum ‘Inna Allāha Lā Yuĥibbu Man Kāna Mukhtālāan Fakhūrāan

And serve God and do not set up anything with Him, and do good to the parents, and the relatives, and the orphans, and the needy, and the neighbor who is a relative, and the neighbor nearby, and the friend nearby, and the wayfarer, and those maintained by your oaths. God does not love the arrogant, the boastful.

31:18

Wa Lā Tuşa“ir Khaddaka Lilnnāsi Wa Lā Tamshi Fī Al-‘ArĐi Maraĥāan ‘Inna Allāha Lā Yuĥibbu Kulla Mukhtālin Fakhūrin

And do not turn your cheek arrogantly from people, nor shall you roam the earth insolently. For Goddoes not love the arrogant show off.

57:23

Likaylā Ta’saw `Alá Mā Fātakum Wa Lā Tafraĥū Bimā ‘Ātākum Wa Allāhu Lā Yuĥibbu Kulla Mukhtālin Fakhūrin

In order that you do not despair over anything that has passed you by, nor be happy of anything He has bestowed upon you. God does not love those who are boastful, proud.

Qāla Bal ‘Alqū Fa’idhā Ĥibāluhum Wa `Işīyuhum Yukhayyalu ‘Ilayhi Min Siĥrihim ‘Annahā Tas`á
